Filipino Bilo Bilo Recipe

Filipino Bilo Bilo Recipe

I remember when I was young my grandmother would ask as to help form into balls the sticky rice flour, for me it seems like I am only playing. Forming those tiny balls a bit bigger than marbles is like playing with playdough.

Here are the ingredients:

1 cup jackfruit cut into strips
3 pcs saba bananas peeled and cut into cubes
1 big sweet potato peeled and cut into cubes
1 cup cooked sago pearls
2 cups of sticky rice flour
1 cup sugar
2 cans of coconut milk
3 cups of water
1 cup water

Direction:

Preparing for the rice balls
1. In a bowl add the sticky rice flour and water. Mix well till it forms a dough.
2. Make balls bigger than the size of a marble. You can make them bigger if you wish.

Set aside each balls separate from each other to avoid the balls sticking together

Preparing for the rest of the ingredients,

1. In a pot combine 3 cups of water with the coconut milk, and sugar.
2. Under medium heat bring to a boil stirring occasionally.
3. Add the potato cubes for about 2-3 minutes and then adding the saba banana
4. Cook till the sweet potato is tender.
5. Add the sticky rice balls we have made earlier.
6. When the balls are cooked they will float.
7. Add the sago pearls and the jackfruit.
8. Simmer for a few more minutes till all fruits are tender.
9.  Serve hot or cold.

Enjoy!
